Research Projects

Clean Combustion & Propulsion

The Combustion and Propulsion Research Laboratory (CPRL) at IUPUI conducts research on clean, safe, and efficient combustion processes and propulsion systems. In collaboration with the gas turbine engine industry and national laboratories, CPRL has developed an innovative pressure-gain wave rotor combustor that will reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 20% or more in aircraft engines and power plants using clean coal gas and natural gas. In collaboration with the indoor air conditioning industry, CPRL also conducts research on noise control in low-pollution home furnaces.
